I must begin by saying that I do love living in NYC, and I do not regret
for a moment making the choice to come here. With that being said I
have found that although there are a plethora of things to do in the
city, many of them are not fun to do by yourself. I am also waiting on a
package from UPS so I fear that any time I step into the the bathroom
or out the door it will be the moment the delivery man decides to show
and not leave me my package for the third time. All the rant aside
being here by myself the past couple of days has allowed me to really
focus on getting some drawings done, as well as working on my website
and kickstarter project, ect. I have felt for a while that this was the
direction that my drawings were needing to move in order to become
bigger and more involved so the pictures that follow are my first
steps.
Sorry for the poor image quality, I took them with my iPhone. I'll scan them in later and put up better copies. The idea is that in this case there are two separate drawings that are cut out in the style of a sticker and then put on the wall. This is similar to what I was doing with my wall drawings, but now the objects are free floating and not confined within the bounding edges of a page. The difference comes in how the drawings are arranged on the wall so that they no longer are two separate pieces, but instead interact in such a way as to create one over all work.
To give a scale reference the overall piece is about 19"x14". I like it so far, and I'm interested to see where the possibilities will take me. Thoughts are welcome as always. Cheers!
