I'm so excited that I'm GIVING AWAY FREE ART!!!

Well I must say that the past few days have lead to some really fun drawings.  I am not sure why, but its like I go through cycles.  There was one that I am not really that fond of so I didn't put it up on the blog.  With that being said I hope you all enjoy the ones that were put up on the blog.

In addition I have my website up and running.  I am uploading as images to it everyday.  While many of the images are not newer work, there are some new aspects to them.  For instance, all of the "If and When" drawings that I did over the course of a year have words written on the backs, that up until this point I didn't feel I was ready to share.  Some of the words are good, some are crude, and some are horrible, but they reflect my thinking and feelings at the times the drawings were made, which I think makes them important.  So if you get the chance hop on over to www.reesetchamness.com and have a gander at them.

Lastly I will close my blog with this... A GIVE AWAY!!!  I am excited to say that my blog has had over 500 page views.  To thank the ones of you who come back to see it time and time again, this is my way of saying thanks.  I want to give away a few drawings.  That's right!  For Free!  All you have to do is leave a comment between now and midnight on September the 5th.  It doesn't have to be a special comment, just anything so you can be put in the drawing.  The more comments I get the more drawings I'll give away, but each individual should only put up one comment.  On the 6th I will go to a random number generator and it will select the numbers that will receive the artwork.  ie., if your the 10th person to comment and it spits out the number 10 YOU WIN!!  Just my way to say thanks for the support!  Tell you friends and family and feel free to link your site to mine.  Thanks!!

A bit of here and there

Continuing to do some black and white only drawings.  Some smaller drawings the past few days.  Its always hard to produce larger more involved drawings after being drained at work.  So I like to use these small drawings as studies that might be used in later more involved drawings.  Also, I have been putting a lot of effort into getting my website to a respectable place.  Please check it out and  tell all your friends and family about it!  ReeseTChamness.com

Its all Black and White...

This is going to be a shorter post, but I really wanted to get this image up incase any one was kind enough to visit the blog from Instagram.  I wanted to go back to black and white for a couple of drawings.  I like using colore, but I think sometimes it makes emphasizing and directing the gaze a bit to easy.  Also, I like to explore the endless amounts of texture and shading possibilities with just the black and white.  Thanks as always for looking, comments are appreciated.

Flamin'!!!

Bum bum bummmmm, bumm     bumm    bumm, bum bum bummmm, bu bu bummmm... (just imagine the Olympic theme that you heard non stop for 17 days.)  So This will be my official thoughts on the Olympics, accompanied by my very own torch :).

Well I have to say one of my favorite moments is always the opening ceremonies when these countries are only able to bring a handful of athletes, but those few athletes are so proud to represent their country, even if they don't have a chance in the world to win a medal.  On that note I'm not sure how I feel about athletes that are born in the US, train in the US, and live in the US, that then choose to compete for a different country.  And also the flip side of the when someone is "brought" to the US, Russia, China, ect. and are then competing for said country.  A lot of politicking involved in the Olympics, especially with all the "Olympics of the Women", which is only partially true according to some articles.  I don't say that to down play how awesome the US women were by any means, they were quite phenomenal.

I thought the Cauldron idea was quite excellent, each country being a part and then coming together to make the big flame.  Beautiful!  I am with some of the naysayers in that it should have been in a more public location, but it is what it is.

NBC did a sub par job with their broadcasting and website... I think everyone will agree with that.

I thought the closing ceremonies were a bit more relate-able to us Non British types but again NBC cut it off or left things out and gave us Animal Practice instead.  Bummers.

Sorry this isn't as an extravagant post as I had originally intended, but long story short, I love the Olympics and couldn't get away from the TV the whole time they were on.  I look forward to the winter games in two years.

Cloister F@$!

Its been a few days since the last post.  Working hard on some new drawings, and wanted to have them finished before I made a postWith that being said I'll start off with my drawings.  The first is some trial of a new pen.  I really like the colored pens which are a brand I have been familiar with for a long time, but had never tried.  So I went and got the black counter parts of the colored pens.  I put the Zebra Sarasa .3 & .5 through the paces to see how they compared to my all time favorite Pilot Hi-Tec-C.  If anyone is interested I can give them a full review of the pen, but to make a long story short, they held up very well.  While they may not over take my Pilots they will certainly have a place in my frequently used pen cup.  With that being said here ya go.

Drawing #2 is just some more playing around with color and seeing where it goes.  A bit more open feel, kinda taking some inspiration from the 365.  Comments always welcome

As for my other goings on, Jessica and I made the hike uptown to The Cloisters.  While she had been there before I haven't had the chance yet, but it was quite amazing.  There was some amazing architecture, and just brilliant art as well.  They did a wonderful job creating this feel and environment.  It gives you the sensation of being there and experiencing it in a unique way.  I felt like I was in the world of my latest book The Wise Man's Fear's by Patrick Rothfuss.  Not only that, but the grounds looked amazing (from the bus it was raining).  I have had the chance twice this week to be in the city, but be away from the city.  First the beach on Monday, and now The Cloisters.  Who knows what fun adventure we may get into on Friday.  As always thanks for looking.

Orange you glad you took the time to read my blog

Haha... get it... orange... For those of you who came to the blog just to look the new picture, I put it first so you don't have to endure my rantings.  I am still feeling out the colors and experimenting.  We are slowly reaching some sort of common ground.  It doesn't make me as nervous as it used to.  That's enough of that.  You're welcome.  For those of you interested in chewing the fat a bit I'll let you in on a few things.
New York continues to bring new and exciting things, while being exhausting and at time overwhelming.  I got to do some interesting hair cuts today.  I refreshed the mohawk one of the guys attending bootcamp.  He also happens to be from Chattanooga where he does hair, so if you know anyone in that area who wants a great cut, let me know and I'll hook you up.  I also did this funky asymmetrical bob on a young girl.  I also got to do a blogger who writes on a bunch of beauty websites,  quite cool.
I have also been watching the Olympics quite vigorously, but I think I will wait to write a post about them until tomorrow when they officially end.
I think that's all for today.

The Cotton Candy Machine

Well I must say I have had the pleasure for a mini vacation over the past 4 days.  It finishes up with seeing M83 in concert tonight, which should be quite nice.  I have had the luxury to sit at home and watch the Olympics non stop more or less as well.  I love watching the Olympics, but it still amazes me that some people are lucky enough to play a game for their living.  I am very jealous of this especially since I was never at that level of my athletics when I used to play.  I think its great that companies and countries see the cultural importance of sports and are willing to help support these people so they are able to fully immerse themselves and focus, which enables them to be the best they can possibly be.  I also had the joy of getting to visit one of the best places I have been ever in New York called The Cotton Candy Machine.    It is a gallery and shop owned by Tara McPherson and Sean Leonard.  I got to catch the end of a show that featured some of my favorite artists of all time.  Craloa, Andrew Bell, Buff Monster, Alex Pardee, and so so many more.  It was like going to a personal Mecca.  I am finally starting to get back into the groove of drawing again and working after work.  Going to the Cotton Candy Machine just made me want to do more and make more.  So without further ado I give you two images from the past couple of days.  In the first I am still playing around with color and seeing how I feel.  It is is not an immediate love, but I feel feel over time we can become friends.  In the second I just wanted to have at it.

As always thanks for looking!

Orange through and through

Well I recently returned from my trip to Tennessee and it has taken me a while to get back into the groove of work.  It has also taken me a while to get back into drawing regularly and being creative.  I do love the city I am in, but sometimes it is a lot to take in.  With all of that being said, I made a much overdo trip to K-Mart to procure some home goods.  No trip to any store with a stationary isle would be complete without a visit to said isle.  I happened to come across a pack of pens that I felt that I just had to have.  I have always been a fan of Pilot pens as most people know, but I wasn't finding the colors I was looking for.  So I decided to try out some Zerbra Sarasa pens.  I am super thrilled with the colors and their vividness.  I thought I would post a picture using my new orange pen.  I will put one up tomorrow with the new green!!!  Enjoy and thanks for looking.
